flat wood bit is designed for use with powered drills for quick boring in timber applications. With a centring point, two cutters and extended spurs for a cleaner more accurate hole. The bits have a small hole drilled through the flat part enabling the user to thread a wire through once the bit has penetrated the work piece. So when the bit is pulled back out the wire can be used to pull a pipe or cable back through the bored hole. Flat Drill bits are also referred to as spade bits.
