The Waterproof Thermal Probe Temperature Sensor is a sealed and pre-wired version of the DS18B20 sensor, which can measure temperatures from -55°C to 125°C (-67°F to +257°F) with a resolution of 9 to 12 bits (configurable). The sensor uses a 1-Wire interface, which means that only one wire (and ground) is needed to connect it to a microcontroller. The sensor has a unique 64-bit ID burned into it, which allows multiple sensors to share the same pin. The sensor also has a temperature-limit alarm system and a query time of less than 750ms. The sensor is waterproof and can be used in wet environments, but not in salt water or corrosive environments. The sensor comes with a 4.7k resistor, which is required as a pullup from the data to VCC line. The sensor works great with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and other platforms that support the Dallas 1-Wire protocol. The sensor can be used for various applications, such as sous-vide cooking, fridge and freezer monitoring, weather stations, environmental sensing, and more.
