Introducing the M5Stack Paper Mono: A Versatile ESP32-S3 Development Board

M5Stack has unveiled its latest development board, the Paper Mono, which is tailored for those seeking improved refresh rates compared to its predecessor, the PaperColor. This innovative board features a 3.97-inch monochrome e-Paper touchscreen and is equipped with both LoRa and NFC capabilities, enabling long-range and short-range communication options.
Powered by the Espressif ESP32-S3R8 SoC, the Paper Mono boasts a dual-core Tensilica LX7 microcontroller that operates at speeds up to 240 MHz, along with 8MB of PSRAM and 16MB of flash storage. Additional features include a microSD card slot, a PDM microphone, a buzzer for audio feedback, a 6-axis IMU, an RTC, and various buttons accompanied by an RGB LED. Notably, the device is powered via a USB-C port and includes a 1150 mAh battery, but it does not have any expansion ports. For users with simpler needs, a Lite version is available that omits the LoRa and NFC functionalities.
