Qualcomm Unveils Linux Developer Preview for Snapdragon X2 Series

Qualcomm has recently launched an "Early Developer Preview" of Linux specifically designed for the Snapdragon X2 Armv9 series of system-on-chips (SoCs) intended for mobile computing. This release is primarily targeted at distribution maintainers, toolchain developers, kernel contributors, and hardware enablement engineers, marking a significant step towards broader Linux support in Qualcomm's mobile PC offerings.

Historically, Qualcomm's commitment to Linux has been inconsistent, often focusing on Windows for its mobile PC processors. However, the announcement indicates that Qualcomm engineers have been actively working on upstream Linux support since the Snapdragon Summit in September 2025. This effort aims to improve low-level SoC enablement, with hopes that the Snapdragon X2 Series will offer better Linux compatibility than previous models.
