NXP Introduces FRDM-IMXRT1186 Development Board for Advanced Applications

NXP has launched its latest development board, the FRDM-IMXRT1186, which is built on the i.MX RT1186 crossover MCU. This board is tailored for applications in industrial automation, robotics, PLCs, and edge computing. It features a sophisticated architecture that combines an 800 MHz Arm Cortex-M7 core for application processing with a 300 MHz Arm Cortex-M33 core dedicated to real-time control and communication tasks.

The FRDM-IMXRT1186 board is equipped with a range of memory options including 64 Mbit HyperRAM, 512 Mbit HyperFlash, and 128 Mbit QSPI Flash. It also boasts two Gigabit Ethernet ports for Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) and two Fast Ethernet ports suitable for EtherCAT or TSN switching. Additional features include a USB Type-C OTG port, a CAN transceiver, and support for debugging via an on-board MCU-Link debugger and JTAG connector. For expansion capabilities, the board includes several headers compatible with Arduino UNO R3, FlexSPI, SRAMC, and motor control.
