Low Water-Level Alert Prototype: Sensor Choice and Calibration

Low Water-Level Alert Prototype: Sensor Choice and Calibration

Build a low-level alert only after choosing a sensor suited to the tank and calibrating actual empty and full points.

Engineering approach

Build a low-level alert only after choosing a sensor suited to the tank and calibrating actual empty and full points.

Implementation guidance

For a small open demo vessel an exposed trace probe can illustrate level, but it corrodes. Prefer a float switch, pressure sensor, capacitive probe, or correctly mounted ultrasonic sensor for a real tank.

Scope and limitations

Exposed conductive probes corrode and percentage readings are geometry-dependent. Tank materials, condensation, foam, turbulence, and access constraints determine the correct industrial sensor.
