Head-Tilt Alert Prototype with SW-520D

Head-Tilt Alert Prototype with SW-520D

Use an SW-520D ball-type tilt switch in a stationary bench model to explore head-angle alerts, never as a driving safety device.

Engineering approach

Use an SW-520D ball-type tilt switch in a stationary bench model to explore head-angle alerts, never as a driving safety device.

Implementation guidance

Mount the sensor on a benchtop hinge or mannequin fixture, debounce the contact, require the angle state to persist, and provide a reset. Do not attach prototype wiring to a person in a moving vehicle.

Scope and limitations

A single tilt switch cannot reliably detect fatigue and can create false alarms or false confidence. Fatigued drivers must stop in a safe place and rest; this prototype must never be used on the road.
