Exploring the Elecrow ThinkNode M9: A Standalone QWERTY Terminal

Introduction to the ThinkNode M9
The Elecrow ThinkNode M9 has recently garnered attention as a versatile standalone LoRa terminal equipped with MeshCore firmware. This device features a QWERTY keyboard, a vibrant color display, GPS capabilities, and a robust 2,300mAh battery. Unlike its predecessors, the ThinkNode M1 and M5, the M9 allows users to send and receive messages and share their location directly from the terminal, eliminating the need for Bluetooth connectivity with a smartphone.
Testing the MeshCore Firmware
In our review, we received two units of the 923 MHz version for hands-on testing. This setup enabled us to explore mesh communication capabilities right out of the box, without needing additional nodes nearby. We conducted field tests in a three-node network, integrating hardware from various brands to assess the performance of the MeshCore firmware.
Conclusion
With its standalone functionality and ease of use, the ThinkNode M9 represents a significant advancement in LoRa terminal technology, making it a compelling choice for users seeking efficient communication solutions.
