Controlling an 8-Channel Relay Board with an IR Remote

Use an IR remote to toggle eight relay channels in a low-voltage demonstration, leaving mains design and installation to qualified professionals.

Engineering approach

Use an IR remote to toggle eight relay channels in a low-voltage demonstration, leaving mains design and installation to qualified professionals.

Implementation guidance

First test with LEDs or other extra-low-voltage loads. Determine whether inputs are active-low, size the 5 V supply for all coils, handle IR repeat frames, and define a safe startup state for every channel.

Scope and limitations

A relay's printed rating does not by itself make a mains assembly safe, and optical isolation may be defeated by the board wiring. Mains work needs enclosure, fuse, clearances, earthing, certified parts, and a qualified installer.
