Efinix Unveils Sapphire RV64 SoC for Flexible RISC-V Applications

Efinix has recently introduced the Sapphire RV64 System on Chip (SoC), a highly adaptable 64-bit RISC-V soft-core processor specifically designed for its Titanium and Trion field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs). This innovative SoC is based on the VexiiRiscv core architecture and offers configurations ranging from one to four RISC-V cores, capable of operating at frequencies up to 400 MHz.

The Sapphire RV64 features a sophisticated seven-stage pipeline and customizable L1 caches, along with optional L2 cache sizes between 64 KB and 512 KB. It also provides 4 KB to 512 KB of on-chip RAM, supporting various memory types including DDR3, LPDDR4x, and HyperRAM, with AXI interfaces up to 512 bits. Additional functionalities include an optional floating-point unit (FPU), branch prediction capabilities, prefetchers, and a range of I/O options including GPIOs, I²C, SPI, and UART interfaces.
