Espressif Systems Unveils Linux BSP Developer Preview for ESP32-S31 Microprocessor

Espressif Systems has made a significant advancement in embedded systems by releasing a developer preview of the Linux Board Support Package (BSP) for its ESP32-S31 microprocessor. This dual-core RISC-V chip, which was first announced in March, is designed to support Linux applications more effectively thanks to its integrated Memory Management Unit (MMU).

The ESP32-S31 development boards, which were introduced in May, come equipped with 16MB of PSRAM, allowing for the deployment of minimal Linux images. The newly released BSP provides developers with essential tools for integrating Linux into their projects, with the core project files available in the esp-buildroot-external repository. Additionally, community-driven Linux ports are also under development, promising further enhancements in the near future.
