Innovative DIY ESP32-P4 Weather Station and Air Quality Monitor

Introduction to the ESP32-P4 Weather Station

Harald Kreuzer has successfully developed a versatile DIY weather station and air quality monitor utilizing the ESP32-P4 platform. This innovative device features a 10.1-inch dashboard display and incorporates a Sensirion SEN66 sensor capable of detecting particulate matter, CO2, VOCs, and NOX levels. What sets this project apart is its reliance on readily available components, making it easy for enthusiasts to replicate.

Connectivity and Functionality

The weather station connects seamlessly to wireless LoRa and ESP-NOW sensors, allowing for real-time data collection without the need for cloud services or user accounts. Users can also access various weather APIs, including Open-Meteo, OpenWeatherMap, and Visual Crossing, to receive accurate weather forecasts. The comprehensive documentation provided in a detailed blog post highlights the essential features and specifications of the build.

Hardware Specifications

The main unit is built on the ESP32-P4-Module-DEV-KIT-C, which is a credit card-sized single-board computer featuring the ESP32-P4NRW32 module, equipped with 32MB of PSRAM and supports both WiFi and BLE connectivity. The display boasts a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels with an impressive contrast ratio of 800:1.
